Rent a home

We have homes to rent across the Midlands, East, South East and parts of London. Our properties are designed to suit a wide variety of people with a range of needs.

How to apply for a housing association home

Our properties available under social and affordable rents are advertised through local councils. To apply for a home, you should contact your local council (or the council responsible for the area you wish to move to) and register for their housing waiting list.

Many councils use choice-based lettings schemes, although some accept direct applications for housing. The Shelter website has more information about council lettings.

If you are successful in selecting one of our properties advertised through you local council's scheme, we'll contact you to talk you through our tenancy application process. You'll be able to complete our application online through our Orbit Move service.

Customers who are offered a tenancy for one of our general needs homes (such as homes that are not in supported or sheltered schemes) will be expected to pay at least one full week’s rent by debit or credit card before signing for their new tenancy. This applies regardless of employment or benefit status.

Mutual Exchange

If you’re looking to move, you may be able to swap your home with another customer through the mutual exchange process.

Customers who are successful with their mutual exchange application for a general needs property (ie one that is not in a supported or sheltered scheme) will be expected to pay at least one full week's rent by debit or credit card before signing the paperwork for the Orbit home. This applies regardless of employment or benefit status.
