Case study - Get on track
Orbit South formed a great new partnership with the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust to deliver their innovative “Get on Track” project for young people. The programme aims to help young people get back into education, employment or training, increase their participation in sports and boost their levels of motivation and self-esteem.
Young people who take part in the programme will receive mentoring from professional athletes who help to run the programme and aim to inspire the participants.
The programme will be running for young people between 16 and 25 years old in Thanet, Maidstone and Medway. Orbit’s Community Investment fund has committed £102,000 over the next year to provide the programme in these areas.
Double Olympic Champion Dame Kelly Holmes said:
I’m delighted that my charity is being supported by Orbit to deliver more programmes for young people in Kent. This will be a great partnership as they really share our ethos of working within communities to make lasting positive change. Being Kent born and bred, this area is very important to me, and so it’s fantastic that we can, through the support from Orbit South, create more opportunities for disadvantaged young people to really turn their lives around and lead more positive and active lives.
