On Saturday 8 July, customers, family members, friends and staff from Briar Croft, an Orbit independent living with care scheme in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon, held an afternoon fete and barbeque to help commemorate Orbit’s 50th year. Over 150 people of all ages came along to the event which featured lawn games, a book stall, tombola, raffle arts and craft stalls and music from the Sixties. Live entertainment was provided by The Matchmakers, a local singing guitar playing duo and Home Instead, the on-site carers at Briar Croft, provided a ‘memory support’ stall, to help educate participants about dementia and how to support those living with the disease. Carl’s Kitchen, a new independent café that has launched on the premises and that is open to the public, celebrated their official opening by hosting the barbeque. The sun came out and everyone had a brilliant time!
Margaret Bartlett, a customer who lives at Briar Croft, says; “Saturdays’ 50th year celebration fete was such a lovely day. My friends, family and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The weather was in our favour too!”
The Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon, Cllr Victoria Alcock, also attended to make a short speech and toast the occasion. She says; “What an absolutely wonderful event to be a part of. I am very pleased to open the fete and Carl’s Kitchen too, particularly at a time when Obit is celebrating 50 years of service within the local community. Congratulations Orbit in your anniversary year. You should all be very proud of yourselves, it’s excellent.”
