Customers from Apni Haweli in Chatham came along to Evelyn House in Strood, Kent to help celebrate Orbit’s 50th year. About 25 customers and members of staff from independent living enjoyed an afternoon of tea, cupcakes and other tasty treats. They also had a 1967 themed quiz, a raffle, an auction and a sale table where they raised £121 that will be donated to the Autistic Society.
As part of our 50th year, Orbit gifted the scheme with a brand new clock for the communal lounge. Kathy Hyland, sheltered scheme officer at Evelyn House said; “Everyone had a lovely time! The quiz was really entertaining and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only did we have fun, but we raised money for an important charity too. Customers also really love the new clock. We’ve put it in our communal lounge for everyone to enjoy!”
Rita and Bob Worsfold, customers from Apni Haweli said; “Thank you for inviting us over from our scheme in Chatham. We have enjoyed today and it’s been great fun, especially the quiz (which our team won). The people at this scheme are always so welcoming and we love coming to events over here – looking forward to the next one!”
