Orbit is working with Women in Social Housing (WISH) in a bid to establish a Midlands group.
WISH is a national group with regional boards across the country with the aim of giving members the opportunity to network, meet with peers across a range of organisations, both private and public and share best practice.
On Friday 21 April, Katherine Smith and Rebecca Clarke from Service Matters, at Orbit, will be hosting an introductory networking lunch in Birmingham for anyone who may like to get involved and join a Midlands group.
Katherine Smith, marketing officer for Service Matters at Orbit, said: “Rebecca and I have previously attended WISH events in other regions and found them useful to network and speak with other women in the sector about their work. It’s staggering so few women are in the top positions and it is something we would like to see change in the future.
“There are really rewarding careers in housing and WISH aim to develop more dynamic leaders with an appetite for success and making a difference. WISH provides an opportunity to collaborate and share best practice across the sector. It is also not just for women – it is about everyone recognising and celebrating the great work women do in the sector.”
WISH aims to encourage more women to choose careers in affordable housing and construction sectors and address career progression for women already in these sectors, challenging stereotypes and removing barriers.
The event will take place at Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP, 134 Edmund St, Birmingham. Registration starts at 12:30pm, with the meeting running from 1-3pm.
