‘I would be living on the streets if it wasn’t for supported housing’

Living with alcohol addiction and mental health issues, Andrew Harrison, 44, explained how he might now be living on the streets if it wasn’t for staff at Orbit's Fishermead Hostel in Milton Keynes.

Since moving into the hostel designed to support single, homeless people over the age of 25, in December 2015, Andrew has been taking part in weekly meetings with Compass, addiction recovery specialists. This support has helped him to face the underlying reasons for his addiction and lack of self-worth, allowing him to build the confidence he needed to tackle his problems head on.

Having developed strong relationships with his support workers, Andrew now feels able to move forward with his life and openly deal with the challenges he might face in the future.
