Plans for 30 affordable new homes in Hollymoor Lane, Epsom have been approved by Epsom and Ewell Borough Council.
The planning application submitted by developer Orbit Homes was unanimously approved at the Council’s planning meeting. The new development will transform the current vacant estate into a mix of houses and flats available for shared ownership and rent.
The development will include two five-bedroom houses, four four-bedroom houses, three three-bedroom houses and 21 two-bedroom flats.
Twenty of the homes will be available for rent and ten for shared ownership (part buy, part rent), with one of the flats designed to provide full wheelchair access. A small retail space will also be provided.
Maggie McCann, development director at Orbit Homes, said: “We’re delighted the plans have been granted approval and it is a testament to the hard work and commitment both Orbit Homes and Epsom and Ewell Borough Council have made to provide much-needed affordable homes in this area.”
Councillor Neil Dallen, chairman of the Council's Strategy & Resources Committee, said: "I am really pleased that the next stage of this project is about to start. This is an incredible opportunity to provide a mix of desperately needed accommodation, in conjunction with our Orbit partner, within a family friendly neighbourhood.”
Orbit Homes is due to start work on site later this year, with completion expected in 2018.
The developer was recently awarded a five-star rating in this year’s annual customer satisfaction survey by the Home Builders Federation (HBF). Orbit Homes was the only housing association developer to achieve the accolade this year.
