Southam independent living scheme open for viewing

Show apartments at Southam over 55’s scheme open for viewings.

Tithe Lodge is an independent living scheme for over 55’s in the Southam area. The scheme, which is being developed by Orbit Homes and due for completion in May 2015, opened its doors to perspective customers for the first time last week.

Local residents, along with those who had registered their interest in the scheme, were invited to attend the event. Around 100 people turned up to view the two show apartments, which are designed to help people live independently until later in life, and find out more about the scheme itself.

Tithe Lodge comprises 75 one and two bedroom apartments in total, which are available for rent or shared ownership. The £12million scheme, which received funding from the Homes and Communities Agency, incorporates a number of communal areas, including a café and restaurant as well as community amenities such as a Library, Community Room, Neighbourhood office and office space.

Lorraine Mansfield, Extra Care Development Manager at Orbit, commented: “We’re really excited about this scheme; its integration with the local community, with the onsite library, community room and neighbourhood office, really make the scheme stand out.

“The independent living aspect of this scheme means that those aged 55 plus need not worry about their changing care needs throughout later life – care providers will be available onsite if and when increased levels of care are required”.

Once complete, Orbit Independent Living will be responsible for the ongoing management of the scheme. For anyone interested in viewing the show apartments, the sales office is open Thursday to Monday 10am – 5pm.
