Plans unveiled for second phase of £120million development

Plans for the second phase of a £120million regeneration project in Bexley are being unveiled to the public.

Orbit Homes, which is leading the development of Erith Park, is inviting the community to see its proposed detailed plans for the second part of the transformation.42Erithparkcgi2

The free public consultation events, which will take place on 8 and 9 August, will be attended by the Erith Park regeneration team to answer any questions from the public.

Plans for phase two will see more than 240 new homes built, as well as a new community centre and a new home for an established nursery.

The regeneration of Erith Park has already begun to replace the seven high-rise blocks with more than 580 new homes for around 3,000 local people. The first phase of the project includes 343 new homes and is due for completion in October 2015 with the first residents moving in from late 2014.

The Erith Park redevelopment by Orbit Homes will include a mix of houses and low rise apartments for rent, private sale and low cost home ownership. The project will also provide a new public open space, opening up access to the Dell.

The transformation of Erith Park is a partnership between the local community, Wates Living Space, London Borough of Bexley and Orbit Homes. It is funded by the Homes & Communities Agency. The architects are BroadwayMalyan. Once complete, the homes will be managed by Orbit South.

Caroline Field, Erith Park Regeneration Project Manager, said: “We are delighted to be playing a major part in transforming this area of London and working in partnership to develop sustainable and thriving communities. These consultation events are a real opportunity for the local community to have their input into shaping the area.

“From the start of this project, community involvement and engagement have been key. We’ve worked closely with our existing customers and other local residents and partners to identify what they want from their new homes and the community they live in, and this has been reflected in the transformation of Erith Park.”
