On 30 July, around 30 representatives from local organisations were given the opportunity to get a first look at Queensway Court in Leamington Spa.
The 178-apartment development for the over 55’s, which is being produced by Orbit Homes and Deeley Construction on behalf of Orbit Independent Living, opened its doors to representatives from Warwick County Council, Warwick District Council and other local partner organisations on Wednesday.
Attendees were given guided tours of the show apartments, which opened earlier this month, to learn more about the scheme and the key features of the apartments which will enable customers to live more independently. The one and two bedroom apartments, which will feature a range of telecare systems, will be available for shared ownership and rent.
The event also provided a chance to learn about how this development is closely linked to the local community; with facilities open to the public including a restaurant, coffee shop, hairdressers and a Smart Flat showcasing the latest in telehealth technology. Queensway Court aims to become a real hub for local residents.
Lorraine Mansfield, Orbit Independent Living Extra Care Development Manager said: “This is our largest Independent Living with care development to-date and we’ve worked hard to make sure it caters to the requirements of our customers.
"Queensway Court will not just provide housing for over 55’s from the Leamington area, it will also enable customers to live more independently until later in life through its extra care facilities including an on-site 24 hour Staff Care Team."
Queensway Court is due for completion in January 2015. Once complete, Orbit Independent Living will provide ongoing management of the homes.
