Orbit leads with market sale

Orbit Homes has been named as having the largest market sale development programme of all housing association developers based outside of London, according to a recent survey.

The survey of top housing association developers showed Orbit Homes completed 111 homes for market sale in 2013-14 to secure the number one spot outside the capital, and has the third highest number of homes started on site nationally at 1,419 in the same period.

With 865 homes completed in 2013-14, Orbit Homes has also established itself as the fifth largest housing association developer in the country.

Additionally, when asked the question of “how many homes do you expect to complete between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2020?” Orbit dwarfed the competition with a total of 6,226 planned completions in this period, compared to the next-in-line with 2,695.

Orbit Homes’ Executive Director, Paul High said: “In 2013-14 Orbit Homes recorded the third highest number of starts on site of any housing association developer in the UK (1,419). This highlights our vision of delivering 12,000 homes by 2020.

“Building in excess of 1,000 homes per year will be no simple task, but these figures illustrate how serious we are about achieving this goal. The results of this survey demonstrate that Orbit Homes is a major player when it comes to development and tackling the UK housing shortage”.

Of the 865 homes completed between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2014, 398 were for social rent, with a further 187 for affordable rent, 169 low-cost ownership homes and 111 for market sale.
