The Orbit Homes Coventry Eco House has won in the Cost and Build-ability category at the Passivhaus Trust Awards.
Held on Tuesday 1 July, the London awards ceremony recognised Passivhaus properties that have been cost-effectively built, perform as well as predicated, and those that are beautiful and aesthetically-pleasing as well as sustainable.
The Eco House, which consists of two three-bedroom houses in Canley, stood out in its category for simultaneously meeting the needs of the local community and building to both the Passivhaus standard and the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6 within a restricted budget.
The award entry was jointly submitted by sustainability consultants Encraft, contractors Beattie Passive and the local Forum for Construction Excellence (FORCE), who delivered the project for Orbit Homes.
The homes, which have been tenanted following their completion, are now managed by Orbit Heart of England, which also part-funded the project.
