Staff at Orbit Heart of England’s independent living with care housing scheme, Tithe Lodge, partnered with the Tithe Café to host a dazzling Hollywood award themed summer barbeque as part of the Southam Carnival in the community hub, Tithe Place.
Everyone was invited to attend and the streets and lawns were packed with Tithe Lodge customers and community members who came along for the fun. The scheme was decorated in a Hollywood theme and guests had fun taking photos amongst the Hollywood stars and glamour before ordering their BBQ delights.
Customers were viewing the parade from their balconies and the came out onto lawns with the community, applauding the decorated floats that passed. There wasn’t a spare bit of ground to view from!
Iris Parker, who’s recently moved in to Tithe Lodge was accompanied by her family for the day. She says; “It was a brilliant day! Where was the Tithe Lodge float?”
Sharron Weston, the Extra Care Manager at Tithe Lodge, says: “It was an excellent day for all the family! Everyone had a great time and the atmosphere was amazing. It was wonderful to see so many customers taking part and so many of Southam community using the hub for which is was built. We look forward to having our own float next year and welcoming the community to more events in the future!”
The Southam Carnival takes place every May Spring Bank holiday Monday. The event draws the community together to see the parade of floats and then visit stalls and exhibitions, fun fair and entertainment in the town’s recreation ground in Park Lane – it was a great success for all.
