Orbit East Care & Repair is pleased to announce the continuation of their service to provide independent and impartial information and advice about housing and care options for older people and their relatives or carers living in Suffolk. Following a re-tender with Suffolk County Council and its seven District and Borough partners, Orbit has successfully secured the Home Improvement Agency (HIA) contract for the next five years, from 1 December 2015.
The contract provides a new opportunity to deliver improved services across health, housing, social care and the voluntary sector. By working together in partnership with the Councils, Orbit will continue to bring together a comprehensive range of services under one umbrella to promote and support independent living and a consistent way of delivering a range of services across the county. Using a customer centred approach, the service enables independent living for older and vulnerable people, as well as those with disabilities. Customers have a real choice about how and where they live, at the right time, in the right way and in the right location. It will also allow them to live safely and help reduce the number of falls and related incidents.
The Home Improvement Agency is jointly commissioned by Suffolk County Council and seven District and Borough partners. This partnership formed to ensure an effective, integrated, and standardised approach to the delivery of housing advice and adaptations support across Suffolk. The partners include; Suffolk County Council, Babergh District Council, Mid Suffolk District Council, Ipswich Borough Council, Forest Heath District Council, St Edmundsbury Borough Council, Suffolk Coastal District Council and Waveney District Council.
