Orbit Heart of England is pleased to announce a partnership with Jobs at Home to provide a unique handyperson service for people living in the Midlands.
Jobs at Home, a social enterprise focussing on low cost and innovative ways of providing sustainable training and jobs for the community, has been working with Orbit to establish the new handyperson service which is available to anyone living in Coventry, Bedworth and Nuneaton.
The service is provided at an affordable rate, agreed before any works are started. Services offered include window and door repairs, plaster work and decorating, plumbing, carpentry, gardening, key fitting and lock changes, light blub fitting, blind fitting, curtain pole installation as well as minor aids and adaptations including the installation of grab rails, stair rails and shower rails.
Supported by Orbit’s community investment team, the new service is unique in that it provides opportunities for Orbit customers to train to become qualified operatives with Jobs at Home. The new trainees will work alongside trained operatives whilst studying towards their multi operative skills qualifications. Jobs at Home has already taken on Sarah Murray, Banda Moffat and Harjit Singh, all of whom are Orbit Heart of England customers.
Sam Scharf, head of community investment at Orbit says; “We are really pleased to see the launch of this fantastic new business! Not only is it a wonderful opportunity for our customers, but it is great to be able to support this new, affordable service being offered to local people”.
Mark Beirne, Director of Communities and Regeneration at Jobs at Home says; “This exciting new partnership with Orbit extends our existing social franchises in Hertfordshire and the South East and represents how, by working in partnership, opportunities through organisations supply chains can be maximised for tenant participation in jobs, skills and training.”
