On Wednesday night (22 April), St Bede’s fought off tough competition and was awarded Housing Project of the Year at the Building Awards 2015.
Scheme architects, PRP, submitted the entry on behalf of the Bedford extra care scheme, which was delivered by Orbit Homes and is managed by Orbit Independent Living.
Alongside its 104 luxury apartments, St Bede’s also offers a multitude of communal facilities, including a restaurant, cafe, hair salon, shop, garden room with terrace, games room and a library incorporating an I.T. suite.
The Building Awards themselves are organised and run by Building Magazine to showcase the best in all areas of construction, from individual projects to training and outstanding individuals. St Bede’s was up against seven other finalists in the Housing Project of the Year category, including developers from the private sector.
This award is another string for St Bede’s’ bow; the scheme has already enjoyed success in a number of awards, including being named Development of the Year in the Chartered Institute of Housing Awards, gaining recognition with a HAPPI design award and being shortlisted in the What House Awards, to name a few. To add to this, St Bede’s is also shortlisted for the RICS Awards, with winners being announced in early May, and the Central LABC Building Excellence Awards, the winners of which will be announced this evening (24 April) - wish us luck!
