Round one winners of the Customer First Awards announced

Over the last three months customers and colleagues have been nominating helpful and supportive Orbit staff members for the first round of the new Customer First Awards (which replaces the previous Customer Spotlight Award for Orbit Heart of England, and the Can Do Award for Orbit East and South).

Entries closed on Monday 30 June, and the winners have now been chosen!

There were four categories available:

  • Individual winner nominated by an external customer
  • Individual winner nominated by an internal customer or colleague
  • Team winners nominated by an external customer
  • Team winners nominated by an internal customer or colleague

The winners of each category are listed in the boxes at the bottom of the page. To find out why they won, please click on their name or the plus sign at the end of the row.

And the first round of winners are:

Mark Hawkins, Handy Person, Rugby Care and Repair – Individual winner nominated by an external customer

Mark was nominated by two customers, for his “first class” customer service, and high standard of work. They both commented on his professional, courteous and caring nature.

For one of them, a particular visit from Mark really stood out; the customer had just had a knee replacement and Mark was attending a job where he was required to pull the freezer out away from the wall. She asked Mark to let her know once it was done, so that she could sweep and wash the floor underneath. But noticing that it would be difficult for her, and without a word, Mark washed and swept the floor himself.

Anne Lister, Scheme Manager, Orbit East and South Leasehold Team – Individual winner nominated by an internal customer

A colleague nominated Anne for her support during the planned replacement of the residential windows at her scheme. Anne changed her part-time hours to suit the project, and was available every morning to help the Resident Liaison Officer with issues and gaining access. By doing this, she helped to ensure the absolute minimum inconvenience and disruption to customers and therefore reduced any extra costs to them caused by project delays.

It was also noted that Anne was very cheerful and positive through the project, and she even gave up some of her own time to ensure everything ran smoothly.

Louise Stott, Paula Collett, and Fallon Warren, Community Housing Officers, Rugby Housing – Team winners nominated by an external customer

This team were nominated by a self-confessed “challenging” customer, for their support with her tenancy. Their kind words, empathy and professionalism all stood for her, and she says: “Orbit is lucky to have these three as staff members, and customers are lucky to have their support”.

Laura Reynolds and Lucy Fields, Housing Assistants, Leamington and Stratford South Housing – Team winners nominated by internal customers

The Stratford Town and North Team had been having some difficulties with staff shortages, and on a couple of occasion were left with no Housing Assistant. Laura and Lucy were nominated for this award, after stepping in to take charge of the team’s lettings, making sure that new customers were able to move into their new homes at the earliest opportunity.

The team says: “We just want to say a big thank you to them both – they have been fantastic with their professionalism and partnership working.”
