Orbit Group wins national awards
Orbit Group has been honoured in two sets of national awards, with recognition in both the Housing Heroes Awards and the Housing Excellence Awards within the same week.
The Housing Heroes Awards, held on 11 May, saw Orbit win in both its shortlisted categories – IT Team of the Year and Procurement Team of the Year. Orbit’s IT entry centred around improving services for customers by introducing mobile working technology to staff, which led to more time being spent directly with residents and working to achieve their needs. And Orbit’s procurement team were honoured after an entry that detailed how the team provides its knowledge and services within the sector, as well as having put in place a large contract for Orbit, which included education and training opportunities, alongside huge value for money savings.
Competition in the Housing Heroes Awards was stiff, with host Stuart MacDonald, Editor of Inside Housing, commenting that they had received over 300 entries in total.
The other recognition for Orbit came at the Housing Excellence Awards, held on 9 May, where the organisation received a commendation in the Customer Service category – the only commendation of the night and testament to the strength of Orbit’s entry. That entry focused on the new and innovative ways the organisation is serving customers, such as a new CRM system, a resident self-service portal and a bursary for residents to improve their own lives or the lives of those living within their communities.
Afzal Ismail, Managing Director of Servicematters, the professional services arm of Orbit Group, said: “These national awards are a real testament to the progress we have made as an organisation, the quality of services we provide both internally and externally, and our staff’s commitment and dedication to excellence.”
