Refund request

There are various instances whereby Orbit will issue a refund. Please see below for further details.

 

Credit on your former Orbit tenancy

If you are no longer living in an Orbit property and there was credit on your account, we may be able to refund this to you.  Our preferred method of payment is by BACS as this is the quickest way to make a payment to you.

Please note: before we pay any refunds, we need to check to see if you have any debts on other Orbit accounts and, if applicable, that there is no housing benefit overpayment outstanding.  Any outstanding debts will affect the amount of your refund.

Where we have to make any checks, a refund could take up to four weeks.

Credit on former Orbit accounts where the customer has passed away

If the customer has passed away and you believe there is credit on the account we may be able to refund this.

Please note that the refund is subject to any other Orbit accounts held by the deceased being clear and, if applicable, that there is no housing benefit overpayment outstanding.  Any outstanding debts will affect the amount we will refund.  Where we have to make any checks, a refund could take up to four weeks.

Credit on former Orbit accounts if Power of Attorney is in place or if you are acting on behalf of the customer with their consent

If the customer is no longer living in an Orbit property and there was credit on their account, we may be able to refund this by cheque.

Please note that the refund is subject to any other Orbit accounts held by the former customer being clear and, if applicable, that there is no housing benefit overpayment outstanding. Any outstanding debts will affect the amount we will refund.  Where we have to make any checks, a refund could take up to four weeks.

Credit on a current Orbit tenancy

If your current tenancy account is in credit, you can request a refund.  Our preferred method of payment is by BACS as this is the quickest way to make a payment to you.

Please note that the refund is subject to any other Orbit accounts you have with us being clear.  If you are, or have been, in receipt of Housing Benefit, we may also need to check with your local council to ensure that they will not be claiming any money back, or changing the amount of Housing Benefit you receive, which would affect the amount of your refund.  Where we have to make any checks, a refund could take up to four weeks.
